Gelato Anyone?

I'm sorry. Did you think I meant gelato ice cream?
No, I meant an art medium called gelatos from Faber-Castell.
An amazing and very versatile product!
You've got to check them out!

There's some incredible classes this summer at StampNation and the first
one is on gelatos. I was so inspired by the techniques that were shared
that I couldn't to get my gelatos out and play.

I decided to try watercoloring.
I used Iced Rose for the flower petals and Gold Champagne for the center.
I have the set below but there are sooooo many more colors. I believe there
are 68 colors in total. I had so much fun painting with the gelatos that
I do have and I CAN'T WAIT to get more and try other techniques!

Gelatos come in tubes like chapstick. I sliced some off the end and
put it onto a clear stamping block. Next I used a watercolor brush and
added some water to mix it up and then had some fun painting.

There's a bit of a shimmer to the colors that I used but unfortunately it doesn't show as well in the photos as I'd like.

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!

Think Pink

I could've sworn that there was a song called Think Pink
by the B52's but I searched and I can't find it.
I need to figure out what song the lyrics in my head are from
before it drives me crazy!

The people at Shopping our Stash are having a challenge with the
theme Think Pink in honor of one of their founding members who passed
away in 2015.

I used the adorable Genevieve Giraffe from Gina K. Designs. Besides
the cute giraffe it has a tone of great sentiments all in a gorgeous font.
(You may have guessed that I like this set)
The polka-dot paper and the pink card-stock are from
Simon Says Stamps June kit.
I used my zig watercolor markers to color Genevieve and then fussy-cut
her out and adhered her to the pink card-stock.

June 23rd is National Pink Day so go get your pink on!

See You In September

We'll be taking the summer off from challenges here at
so this is the last one until September.
Now I've got a song stuck in my head.
You know the one?
See You In September - it's an old one by The Happenings.

For this clean and somewhat layered card I stamped the Hardwood stamp
from Stampin' Up! onto some whisper white card stock and then stamped
the Rose Clock from Stamp-it Australia on top.
I colored the rose and the leaves with my Prismacolor pencil crayons and
sponged the edges to soften the look.
I layered it onto some black cardstock then onto a craft foam sheet and
next onto some soft suede card stock.
All in all it was pretty easy.

If you're new to coloring, something like
this would be a good place to start. You're only coloring a small portion
of the overall call so it's less intimidating for a beginner.

So how does this photo inspire you?

Masculine Monday #24 - Running in Circles!

My daughter came into my craft room on Saturday night asking if
she could use my stuff to make a Father's Day card. She'd been looking
on Pinterest and had come across a card she wanted to CASE.
I of course, said yes!

So for today's Masculine Monday card I'd like to introduce you to
my daughter, Erin, and her card.

Check it out!

She gathered up some circle punches and some scrap papers of colors
she knows he likes and then went to town punching circles. She popped the circles up on dimensionals and scattered them on the
card.
The DAD letters are from the Journaling Alpha Dies by Neat & Tangled -
love those dies! She die cut the letters from thick white cardstock and then
from craft foam. She glued the letters to the foam, put a block on top of
them for a few minutes and then set them on the card.

I think it turned out great and she can be my guest here anytime!

She didn't save the pin but I will look for it and add a link here when
I find it.
update: Click HERE to see the card that she CASE'd. It was made
by Delphine Lorelli - Erin says thanks for the inspiration Delphine!

Christmas Card Challenges

It's Sunday and that means it's time to play at

We have a theme challenge for you and that theme is
WREATHS.

I used a stamp from a ART-C set (sorry I don't know the name)
that's a sprig of greenery. I stamped it in a circle with one shade
of green ink and then stamped it again, filling in the gaps with
another shade of green.
I stamped the deer from the same set and popped him up using
some craft foam for a bit of dimension.
Next came the sentiment.
I was going to add some berries to the wreath at this point but
decided I liked it better without.
Very clean and simple.

Now it's your turn!
Check out the rest of the DT's cards here and then I hope
to see your card in the gallery.

You Make a Difference!

Who wouldn't like to receive a card telling them
'You make a difference'. I think it would make anyone
feel happy.

I used the color challenge at CAS-ual Fridays and the theme
at Shopping Our Stash to inspire me for this card.

The star fish is from the Picture Perfect stamp set from Stampin' Up! I've
had that set for months and have never inked it up. I was pulling the
retired sets off my shelf when it caught my eye and decided to use it.
Not sure why I waited so long.

I used some Catherine Pooler inks to watercolor the background.
The strip of designer paper is from a retired Stampin' Up! pack.
The sentiment is from a stamp and die combo designed by
CAS-ual Fridays exclusively for Stamp of Approval

When I was organizing my craft room the other day, (it's a work in progress
but I'm getting there) I realized I have a lot of retired paper, embellishments
and quite a few stamp sets that have never been inked.
So I decided that I need to use what I have before I purchase more things
except for necessities of course :) for example I need more
Catherine Pooler inks and ink is a necessity because you can't stamp
 without ink :) lol

Masculine Monday #23

For this week's Masculine Monday card I again went for a CAS card.
I also made it a one layer card, did a masking technique and kept the
color scheme to one color.

I recently ordered the Mixed Drinks stamp set from Stampin' Up!
and knew that the first stamp I would use would be the beer mug.
I stamped it onto the card base first and then covered it up with some
masking paper. Next I sponged on some tumbled glass, broken china
and chipped sapphire distress inks and then removed the mask.
If you've never done masking before, the moment you remove the
mask is so cool!!

I'm playing along with the following challenges:

Seize the Birthday - One Layer Card

Cards in Envy - You're the Man
